~ Artist Bio & Review Pages ~ I’ve always had a fascination with light, and the first college class I took was an introduction to black and white photography. Not only did this class teach me the fundamentals of photography, I also learned to see things differently. I’ve never been the same since! After college I traveled around Europe, Mexico, the US and Canada, with camera and backpack in tow. I had many rolls of film , hundreds of images and was always desperately seeking a darkroom to process and print my work. In the late eighties I finally settled down and set up my own darkroom. It was then that I started connecting into the world of images. One of the first articles I read was a how to on hand painting photographs. I immediately ordered a set of oils. Although my first love is B & W, I loved the old fashioned; surreal effect painting created, and became enthralled by adding another dimension. Over the past ten years, I’ve had three one woman shows, participated in many invitationals and have galleries in the North , Southwest and Los Angeles. My clients include greeting card and publishing companies, gardening and flower magazines, art magazines and periodicals. Although I consider myself primarily self taught, I’ve taken workshops at photography schools, and college classes in art, design and illustration. My true inspiration comes from the subtractive colors and design in nature. "Camera and darkroom convey my inspiration. With paint, dye and image a combination of something part real and part definition is created." Brenda Evans Artist Reviews, Please click on the cover names.
